Mentor Yourself through Books

You can either watch the video essay or read the essay down below.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.
― Charles W. Eliot

I have already talked about how books are humanity's super power. In this essay, I am going to talk about mentorship through books.

People's Experience Documented.

Let me tell you something new, people die. We all know that and sad thing is, they go for forever. And their life experiences and lessons goes too. There were some people that you wanted to meet but you couldn't as either lack of having any direct connection with them and they are busy or they have died.

There is high chance that people that you want to meet has either has written a book) or someone has closely studied him and written a book on him (Elon musk book and Steve Jobs).

When you read someone's book, you are directly talking to that person. Removing the barrier of any cultural difference and more importantly, any physical existence. They don't have to be alive to be mentoring you.

Books are Conscious.

And even in that case, this is actually more articulated words possible that aren't possible in any conversation.

Want to get mentored by Stephen King? Quite possibly he is busy writing his next best selling novel. But he can guide you for this task.

You are getting mentored by multiple people. Who are not even alive, but still you have access to their clearest thinking and lessons. This is how you get mentored by books.

Books Takes Time.

A book takes time to get written, and when it gets written once, it gets edited. Several times. And the book you are holding on your hands are the most concise form of their best thoughts and thinking on a paper. And now, you can consume it and learn from it in your own time.

This is learning by other people's mistakes. And their experiences.

Books are your superpower.
